Measure Your Space
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR SPACE
We want you to relish your new furnishings as soon as they grace your abode. To facilitate this experience, we present the following directives for accurately gauging your space. Precise measurements ensure seamless entry of your new furnishings and their perfect placement.
FIRST STEP
Accompany us to the designated room for your purchase. To aid you in evaluating the compatibility of your selection with your space, we offer some guidance.
First up, the dimensions for each of our products are shown in the order of width (W) x depth (D) x height (H) as shown in below figures:
Here are two clever ways to see how your new furniture will fit in the space you’ve allotted for it:
- Download and print graph paper. Sketch out the shape and dimensions of your room, then draw in your existing furniture. The grid lines can help guide you in figuring out how your new furniture will fit.
- Utilize newspaper or butcher paper to make a true-to-size footprint of the item you've selected. Then, position it on the floor where you envision it.
SECOND STEP
Let’s measure the entryway or opening to ensure the item fits into your home. Make sure it can go through all doors, stairwells, elevators, etc. on the way to its spot!
- Map out the route from the delivery spot outside your home to where you want your new item placed as shown in figure (a) below.
-
If you live in an apartment building with stairs or an elevator leading to your home, you may need to measure these spaces as well as shown in figure (b) below.
- Be sure to measure the width (W), diagonal height (DH) and height (H) of any hallway and/or doorways (inside the door jams) the piece must pass through, keeping in mind any corners it must clear as shown in figures (c1) & (c2) below.
-
Also, take note of any light fixtures, decorations, etc., that are permanently fixed in place and may become an obstacle as you try to bring the item into the desired room as shown in figure (d) below.
- As you measure, remember that furniture dimensions include feet, legs, bases, etc. In some cases, these parts are removable, but not always. IF the total dimensions of a piece are tight or questionable for your space, please contact us before placing your order.
THIRD STEP
If you have gone through FIRST & SECOND STEPS and your coveted new furniture passed all tests, then you're all set to complete your order!
